New “Out of the Swamp” Super PAC Launches To Target Appointed Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) & Expand Map for Democrats

Moody’s Cuts to Health Care, MAGA Extremism, and Low Name ID Make Her Vulnerable

Today, a new political action committee, “Out of the Swamp PAC,” filed with the Federal Election Commission and announced its intention to target Florida’s appointed Senator Ashley Moody, who was selected by Governor Ron DeSantis in January and has since served as a rubber stamp for President Trump’s agenda. 

Moody will face voters for the first time in November 2026 in a special election to fill the final two years of former Senator Marco Rubio’s term. 

“Ashley Moody has put her career, her donors, and her party bosses over the everyday Floridians who are struggling to afford their bills and who are sick and tired of business as usual,” said Out of the Swamp PAC’s executive director Gabrielle Adekunle. “Moody was chosen by Ron DeSantis to be a MAGA loyalist, and her record so far shows exactly why she’s going to be vulnerable at the ballot box.” 

As first reported by Florida Playbook, the PAC, which will raise money to run TV and digital ads, will focus on Moody’s votes to cut health care for 4.3 million Floridians, her support for extreme abortion bans, her rubber stamping of cuts to FEMA and disaster funding, and her role in MAGA attacks on democracy.

“For too long, Democrats in Florida have been on defense; now it’s time to flip the script,” said Matthew Grocholske, Democratic Progressive Caucus of Florida President.  “Moody is vulnerable if the resources come together to define her. Most Floridians have never heard of Moody, let alone voted for her. They won’t like hearing about her cuts to health care, her record on abortion rights, or the votes that have weakened our disaster preparedness. Meanwhile, national Democrats can’t afford to keep ignoring Florida. For Democrats to have any chance at winning back the Senate, we have to expand the map.”
