December 11, 2025 — Today both of Florida’s U.S. Senators – including unelected, interim Sen. Ashley Moody – voted to reject extending critical Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies – triggering an impending health care crisis that will impact more than 4,000,000 Floridians

With the tax credits expiring, Florida will be one of the hardest hit states. Among states using Healthcare.gov, Florida has the largest number of enrollees and receives the largest share of subsidies, to the tune of $2.2 billion. The consequences will be devastating for hardworking Floridians and their families who are already struggling with rising costs.

Recent polling also shows Sen. Moody’s stance on the issue could cost her seat, with 73% of all Floridians supporting extending the tax credits, including 60% of Republicans.

“Florida is already facing an affordability crisis, and now Ashley Moody and Rick Scott have made it worse,” said Out of the Swamp PAC Executive Director Gabrielle Adekunle. “With the impending expiration of ACA subsidies, millions of hardworking Floridians will be forced to choose between paying the doctor or paying rent. This disaster was avoidable, and now families across our state will pay the price.”

The projected premium increases Florida families will face:

>> A 45-year-old earning $60,000/year will see premiums rise by $1,530.

>> A 60-year-old earning $80,000/year will face an increase of $18,123.

>> A family of four earning $125,000/year will pay $8,136 more.

Launched earlier this year to give Floridians a better choice, Out of the Swamp PAC views Ashley Moody as a uniquely vulnerable target as she prepares to face voters for the first time as a Senator. Out of the Swamp PAC will continue scaling up digital efforts as 2026 approaches, softening the ground for Democrats to take on Moody. Recently the PAC announced its first buy and released two ads.
